In a nutshell

 

 

It's high summer up at the creek and a great time to go up and enjoy the fact that it's always just a little bit cooler up in the valley.

 

 In case you need a better excuse, don't forget that we're having a party on Saturday, Aug 9!

Bring a dish that goes with BBQ. Bring your people. Bring your sliding falls clothes!

 

I've talked to a few of you and know sorta-kinda who's coming and who's not, but to help make sure we're prepared, please RSVP here to let us know if you're coming.

5 questions for Claire Wilkins (front and center in photo

1. Where are you on the family tree?

   I am the daughter of Bill Coward, son of Kent Coward.

2. Do you have a favorite spot at GC?

   My favorite spot is in front of the cabin as it's starting to get dark and the fireflies start coming out.

3. It's dinner time. Plate on your knees on the front steps or elbow to elbow at the dining room table?

   Neither. Picnic table by the grill!

4. What's your vision of GC in the future?

   Over the past few years, we've had the chance to take many friends up to Grassy Creek, and it has become a place where we have all made a lot of memories. There is nothing better than hearing children's delighted squeals as they are "turned loose" in a way that is just impossible in "normal" life. I envision continuing to share the place with friends and making memories as a family. Practically, I'd love to figure out a way to host greater numbers overnight and share the joy! 

5. If you could be any piece of GC furniture living or gone to the big burn pile in the sky, what would you be?

   Maybe that hefty tree trunk cast skillet on the stove by the bar that looks small and cute but is actually pretty hard to move.

I'll say it again: mark AUGUST 9 on your calendar! We're havin' a party! It's not a reunion, it's not a meeting, it really is just a party.

Join the board! If you're interested in getting more involved in the nuts and bolts behind Grassy Creek, please join us for our monthly board meetings, every 2nd Tuesday at 8:00AM. We help steer the budget, make sure the roof doesn't leak (too bad) and plan for Grassy Creek's future. Write to grassycreekcabinnc@gmail.com (which is really just Natalie A) to be added.

This year has been quiet so far compared to years past. The road has had a big upgrade, though, and I hear the sliding falls have had a makeover, in addition to lots of landscaping being done. Come have a walk around and enjoy. If you're looking for a project, there is an ongoing to-do list that all are welcome to pitch in on. Bill is up at the Creek most Thursdays. Jay is up most weekends. Give them a shout. You don't need to be handy to help.
